Vždy som hájil farby nášho mestského klubu , najprv ASD SALERNO RUGBY a neskôr ASD ARECHI RUGBY.
Mal som to šťastie cca. 3roky žiť a hrať v Argentíne. Tam som obliekal dres PALIHUE RUGBY HOCKEY CLUB.Bola to skvelá škola skúseností.

Ak by niekto o nás započul a rugby by ho nejako zaujalo, čo by si odkázal potenciálnemu hráčovi?

Rugby Bratislava

Giuseppe, could you please introduce yourself and what brought you in Slovakia?

Salernitano, born in 1983. Master Degree in Euro-American relations and doctorated on the Rugby fields. I’m a man of few words, but if there is a good story: let’s talk. Better if it’s in front of an artfully cooked meal or some beer during Third Time. After some years between diplomatic offices, volunteering and cultural institutes in Latin America a good friend has taken the risk to recommend me for a multinational company in Bratislava. And here I am, I start again from the 33.

What are your feelings for being still able to play rugby in Slovakia?

Before leaving for Slovakia one of my biggest concerns was being able to find a rugby team that included me.
I am very happy to be part of the RKB and have the possibility to spend the weekends playing rugby with new friends. For this I must thank Charlie, Slavo and Palo for the continuing commitment to grow the team and the group.

Trainings and matches may differ a bit comparing to Italy, could you please compare the two systems?

I have always played with the colors of my city, first with ASD SALERNO RUGBY and later with ASD ARECHI RUGBY. Teams of third division, but constantly growing in recent years. Like all Italian rugby movement. I always played in the first row, as loose head prop and sometimes as a hooker. Last year, just when I moved to Bratislava, my teammates of ARECHI played the qualification for the «Serie B». Unfortunately, They only came in second place, but this February the team will return to fight to get to the second category. Go ARECHI!

I have had the fortune to live and play in Argentina for about three years. In those years, I wore the shirt of PALIHUE RUGBY HOCKEY CLUB. It was a great learning experience. I had to deal with a much more intense pace of play and very experienced athletes, in a land that for years has express the best of his game, particularly in the scrum. The continued commitment, the will to challenge myself and teamwork have allowed me to play as a titular prop in the championships «B» at final of 2011/2012 season, «A» during 2012/2013 season and other time «B» during 2013/2014 season of the province of Buenos Aires.

The difference of training between Italy, Argentina and Bratislava is quantitative and qualitative. Both in Italy and in Argentina I was training 3 or 4 times a week in the gym with the Rugby skills expert trainer and 3 times a week in the field.  During the training were present nearly 40 players, which made the very competitive environment. All of us had to work hard to obtain the attendance at the match of the weekend. In addition, this situation made possible to have, at least once a week, targeted workouts for forwards and for backs. Of course, it is useless to make a comparison with what is happening today in RKB. Right now we have to push to increase the number of players for the structuring workouts suited to express a proper game during the championship.
We are putting down the roots, the fruits will come in future seasons.

You have been nominated as captain of RKB. What does it mean to you, and how does it change your perspective as a player with more responsibilities now?

When Charlie asked me if I wanted to be the captain of the RKB Seniors found it hard to believe him. It’s a completely new situation for me, my life as a rugby player until then was limited to pushing in the scrum, giving and receiving bumps and incite forward like me.
Even this is a new challenge for me, I must learn to have the overview during the game and to always give 110% to be an example for my teammates.

You may stay here for a while, leave sooner or later, or keep doing in that lovely place called Bratislava. Anyway, what do you think in term of development the RKB can achieve with our budget, and the local people?

I think that I’ll stay in Bratislava until the working and living conditions, both for me and for my wife will allow us to have no problems. We have not a defined time.
I believe that a club like ours, although still young, with passionate people and foreign experienced players can make an important contribution to the whole Slovak Rugby movement. Bratislava is a great city on continuous growing, with many young families and many foreigners. Those factors allow to make new experiments on the territory, also in the field of sports associations. For RKB to have a pool of young people growing is crucial.

In case someone would hear about us and may be interested in rugby, what would you say to this potential player?

As usual few words:

If you just want to train yourself, go elsewhere. If you are looking for a team and a strong group, then join us. RKB wants you!
